Boralex employs a geographic management model. The company has established a business unit in North America in addition to its existing business unit in Europe, now formally headed by the Vice President and General Manager of Europe. Regional business units integrate organic development, public relations, human resources, construction, asset management, operational finance and accounting, energy sales, and regional mergers and acquisitions operations. At the corporate level, Volarex has added a Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to its Executive Committee. This role will focus on monitoring risk exposure in a changing and increasingly complex energy environment. This demonstrates Volarex’s willingness to seize business opportunities with greater confidence and resilience, and will ensure the implementation of Volarex’s overall CSR strategy.
The company has also added a Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Performance to its Executive Committee. This role is aimed at maintaining Boralex’s strong reputation through timely execution of business strategy and localization of the business model. This new role will also focus on managing Volarex’s overall performance.

Hugues Girardin Named Executive Vice President and General Manager North America
Hugues Girardin, formerly Vice President of Development, has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of North America. During his 30 years at Boralex, he has leveraged his extensive knowledge and experience in the North American energy industry to contribute to the company’s success. Leveraging his expertise in various positions on the development and operations teams, he has been instrumental in his Boralex history, including his Seigneurie de Beaupré wind farm, one of the largest wind farms in North America. He has led some of the biggest projects and coordinated the company’s debut in the US. state.
Julie Cusson has been appointed Senior Vice President, Enterprise Risk Management and CSR.
Julie Cusson served as Vice President of Public Relations and Corporate Affairs for Boralex for the past two years. She joined the company in 2016. She has over 20 years of experience in the energy, resources and manufacturing sectors. Throughout her career, Julie Kasson has built a world-class public relations and communications team known for her strategic acumen and ability to generate growth for her organization. Her economist training and diverse areas of interest have helped her lead several cross-functional projects over the past few years, most recently including the internal deployment of Boralex’s strategic plan.
Pascal Laprise-Demers has been appointed Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Performance.
Pascal Laprise-Demers has been appointed Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Performance, effective today. He joined Boralex as Advisor to his President and CEO in January 2021 to lead the development of the latest strategic plan. Pascal Laprise-Demers quickly distinguished himself with his strong analytical and strategic skills, problem-solving abilities and approach to leading complex cross-functional projects. As an engineer with a passion for energy, he spent six years with one of the world’s leading strategic consulting firms, where he held several key figures in the renewable energy industry.
Isabelle Fontaine Named Senior Vice President, Corporate Public Affairs & Communications
Isabelle Fontaine joined Boralex in November 2019 as Director of Government Affairs. She was quickly promoted to Director of Public Relations and Communications in June 2020, succeeding Julie Casson as the Company’s Senior Vice President of Public Relations and Communications. Isabelle Fontaine is a renowned strategist who has made a career out of developing and implementing strategic public relations and government relations plans for domestic and international companies, particularly in the energy and natural resources sectors.
