STATEN ISLAND, NY — Lynn Decker, 59, says she’s always been a “terrible smoker.”

In fact, this self-proclaimed “serial entrepreneur” said it’s “never too late” to start a business or take up a new hobby. And when she starts something new, she always puts “everything” into it to make it a success.

That’s why the small business consultant and owner of Progressive Bookkeeping Solutions LLC decided to start another business where she could demonstrate her passion for gemstones.

“When I came of age and went back to college in 2004, I studied geology and fell in love with astronomy and earth science. This is why I work with gemstones. It allows me to stay connected with the natural world,” said Decker, who recently started designing and making beaded jewelry. When Decker’s friends and family started suggesting she pay to create colorful gemstone and beaded jewelry, she decided to turn her new hobby into a profitable business.

She officially launched Wired For Love Designs Jewelry Studio LLC in December 2021, making it a permanent store at the Lo’Kel-li Vendor Market in the Staten Island Mall.

“I love making jewelry with semi-precious stones, and I make and sell bracelets, earrings, and necklaces using a variety of stones. We also curate other jewelry that we source from our base to round out the shop,” she said.

Her unique selection of jewelry ranges from tiger eye beaded bracelets in green, blue and purple to rainbow hematite and mule rock rings.

“I love working with materials from the natural world. That’s the main inspiration for my designs. Sometimes the things I design come to mind when I’m asleep or during quiet hours,” says Decker. added Mr.

And starting a business was not a difficult task. She owns several small ventures.

“I am naturally entrepreneurial, and since this was not my first business venture, I had the experience and the confidence to pull it off. I do my best to overcome the challenges of .I enjoy interacting with the public and it’s natural to chat with people…I never give up,” she said. Told.

And Decker is no stranger to new challenges. During her pandemic, she had never played drums before and joined an all-female drum line. And she started running at age 53, entering her first New York City marathon in 2019.

“You don’t know if you can do something until you try,” she said. “You have to overcome your fear, you have to turn off your negative voice and just try. What is the worst thing that can happen? You will fail. Take it back and try something else.I don’t believe in quitting.”
