The New Jersey Department of State Business Action Center (NJBAC) has awarded $500,000 to the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) to assist first-time food and beverage export manufacturers in underserved business communities. was awarded federal funding.
Financial prizes are offered to companies on a first-come, first-served competitive basis. This program is funded in part by a US Small Business Administration (SBA) grant.
“The goal of this year’s NJSTEP program is to support New Jersey food and beverage manufacturers in underserved business communities looking to begin selling internationally. We will provide export resources to minority-, LGBTQ-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses to develop better access,” said New Jersey Secretary of State Tahesha Wei. “NJSTEP is looking forward to helping these companies realize their overseas sales opportunities and how this will impact the state’s economy.”
The state’s successful NJSTEP program has helped hundreds of businesses to date, leading to millions of dollars in export sales worldwide.
“Selling into the global marketplace is not just for large and established companies,” said Melanie Willoughby, executive director of the New Jersey Business Action Center.
